Abstract
David Ferreira, known as The Young Abstract, is a pivotal photographer capturing hip-hop and culture’s raw essence.
Born in 1995 at Columbus Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, Ferreira navigated a gritty neighborhood, enduring a gunpoint robbery. First-generation Brazilian-American and youngest of four.
Photography ignited his passion at fourteen; daily shoots honed mastery through repetition and experimentation, revealing stories in postures and emotions.
In 2012, he debuted as Urban Abstract Photography on Flickr and Instagram. Collaborating with Newark's Fatboy SSE and Stuy Side crew, they dubbed him "Abstract" after his handle, prompting a rebrand to The Young Abstract.
This led to Newark's Chad B, a Jersey Club music OG, state travels, and Miami connections, photographing icons like Gunna, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Future, and Dave East. Images grace social feeds and archives; model portraits highlight human narratives.
After a four-year personal hiatus, he returned in 2025, grounded yet visionary, crafting resonant, culture-preserving frames.
